@Meaningness do you have code or videos of Pengi or Sonja available? I found some simplified bits of Pengi in Agre's thesis, but not much.

There's *some* code in my thesis book too I think Backup was largely nonexistent in those days, and source control hadn't been invented yet at all.

This caused major problems for Phil because I did a half-rewrite of Pengi after we published the paper on it, and left it in a completely broken state, so it was hard for him to write up for his thesis. I still feel really bad about this

Ah, sorry to hear about that. Was the version in Phil's thesis the partial rewrite? Or was that architected more like Sonja?

I think he was working from the partial rewrite but my memory is vague. The system was probably not actually runnable at that point. He had severe coder’s block (like writer’s block) so I wrote almost all the Pengi code, although he was a highly competent programmer.
