Excellent advice on doing research as a graduate student. In AI in this case, but seems most would apply in any field. By @andrey_kurenkovhttps://www.andreykurenkov.com/writing/life/lessons-learned-from-failures/# …

Oof. As a consequence of grad school? That’s rough… would depend on details of the situation ofc. Try to find someone you can talk to who is not in a position of authority over you but is close enough to the situation to understand it?

Not in grad school. I don't know of such a person.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood the question! I’m not qualified to give personal advice (no training in therapy, counseling, etc). Of things I’ve written, most relevant might be this (but I haven’t written up how to get out, so maybe not useful…)https://meaningness.com/emotional-dynamics-of-nihilism …

… unless you are meditating. If you are meditating, then I would give the generic advice to stop for several weeks at least and see if that helps. The current mainstream meditation methods can definitely lead to constant spiritual nausea and ego death.

They were *designed* to do that… If this seems like it might be what’s going on, then stop for a good while, and before restarting, consult a teacher who understands this issue. (Most meditation teachers don’t.)

It has been a gradual process of the "spiritual ego" asserting itself as a result of social isolation, esoteric philosophical reading, psychiatric medication and its withdrawal
