Lately I've been approaching practice with the idea that I need to combine two kinds of meditation in order for things to go well: 1) Something to increase intensity and "stir things up". 2) Something to increase stability/groundedness/spaciousness so I don't get overwhelmed.

What do you recommend for groundedness?

Here's a simple meditation that works well for me: 1) Feel the ground underneath you, supporting you. 2) Feel the space around you, in every direction. 3) Feel yourself in the middle of the space, and straighten your head and shoulders; feel steady and supported.
