if true, you need to reinfect yourself during wind-down phase to keep the immune system revved up a few more days in order to completely eliminate them.

Makes you wonder whether a protein like an interferon would be able to pass through gut in any amount, leaving aside whether it would cause inflammation. People tend to think about strong immune system, but you need “just right”- too much all the time not good
