Possible counter scenarios: - As universities deevolve into blind decorticated endoparasites, they lose ability to sense changed conditions and don’t react until too late - Universities lose enough credibility that alts gain prestige fast enough not to need to cut a deal

Also the possibility that alternatives decide to take on the superficial branding of "universities" while operating very differently. Sorbonne in 1500 and Sorbonne in 2020 are the "same university", but without the name, you'd barely be able to tell.

Yes rhink that’s plausible. If alts and unis cut deals, the big question would be who gets how much power to shape the structure (and how that changes over time).
