Hey @Meaningness, @edelwax told me that you think the Dzogchen idea of 'methods' is equivalent to Joe's idea of values.
Have you written about method before? Where can I learn more about it?

I think “method” in Dzogchen is intended somewhat differently than “tool/technique”, though that doesn’t necessarily affect the point you are making here.

No, my use of value comes from the pragmatists and isn’t ultimate, universal, etc. Values are those mental tools which direct your attention in a human context in a way which is meaningful. Probably most of the dzogchen examples above fit.

I was talking about the goals/values thing with someone today and they were like "wait, you don't realize your values via your goals? they're separate?" & it's making me think that using "values" for this seems to import lots of other meanings. "hows" feels sorta clearest to me
