The new Witcher series is AMAZING. They got just about everything right. Outstanding acting, pacing, and vfx.

They’ve reordered the story non-chronologically, which makes great expositional sense in revealing character arcs, but will be hopelessly confusing in terms of the plot. It constantly cuts a century back and forth in time. No one ages, so you won’t have any idea when you are.

If you love gritty swords & sorcery, you’ll love this regardless. The fights are fantastic. And the characters will probably be amazing even if you have no idea who they are or what they are doing or why. You’ll probably want to watch it 2x, and the plot will get clearer 2nd time

I don’t know anything about the Witcher but I totally get this from other stuff I’ve seen critics go in on: is it too much to ask that people familiarise themselves with what they wish to criticise? You can’t properly criticise what you don’t even understand.

Yes… although tbf I think critics think their job is to tell “the average person” whether they should like the show. And, my guess is that they are right that “the average person” will find it too confusing to keep watching. Unfortunately.
