This thread seems important. If ideas around critical rationalism are causing people life problems, that's a major issue. I hope CR can be patched up to not have these issues. (I think there's the makings of a good solution: more leaning on tradition, actual fallibilism, etc.)https://twitter.com/tjaulow/status/1206188493421985792 …

Have you read Beginning of Infinity yet?

No. About once every three months I re-read the blurb/introduction and re-conclude that I’m not going to get anything out of it. I could be wrong :)

Happy you're working on this! Though in this case, I'd be surprised if it's postrational nihilism, because CR has its own antidotes to that. Seems like the common problem for CR/TCS folk is "I'm involved with school/employment and don't see a nearby/functional place to jump to"

I'd like to see you write up why 4.5 is necessary on the way to 5. I'd like to think I'm an (insufficiently deft) 5, but I didn't have a nihilist Dark Night of the Soul. ....

... I'm pretty sure it was Feyerabend's /Against Method/ that kicked me out of 4, but my reaction was not "there's no ground under my feet" but rather "cool!" Probably this is because I went to CalTech instead of MIT.
