I have always wanted to skip over the old wrong stuff to get to the new correct stuff but this is untenable because everything is wrong

I think you have to get *pretty* advanced before reading the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy article on X is less useful than reading X. This is true even if the original source is short, because older philosophy is usually difficult to understand without lots of context.

depends on who you're reading- just started reading Nietzsche and he is hilarious and pretty easy to understand, looked at the SEP page and it seems very dry
