What happened to all that holistic woo? It was enormous a decade ago, but seems to have simply dropped out of the culture. I’m sure you can still find it if you look, but it doesn’t have anything like the influence it did.

Atheism was huge a decade ago and also vanished.
@slatestarcodex argues that it was replaced as a religion by Social Justice, which was a superior product for the same market. I suspect the same thing happened to holistic healing woo? Same demographic.https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/10/30/new-atheism-the-godlessness-that-failed/ …Show this thread

there's no metaphysics either. that department is called 'mind, body and soul' here now.

Really? Does the department not see looking at the subject past how it directly effects the self?

Powell's categorizes Tolle into the Metaphysics section. To me, his subject object iteration cycle is simply a less organized version of Kegan's stages.

(I also find that pertinent here because of his popularity. He doesn't promote pretension. IMO)

Not true. Amazon has opened new bookstores in Chicago akin of good old Borders, but better. Books are sorted by Amazon ratings. Awesome!

The part about crystals is true though. :)
