@meaningness Do you have any links that claim to rebut staged/systematic learning models like Dreyfus or shu-ha-ri in favor of Schön-like/metasystematic learning models? I may be talking myself into agreeing to give a "big think" talk.
Well I think the stages are best understood as operating modes which have to be acquired in a particular order. However, the fact that you’ve acquired one is no guarantee you will use it consistently, or across domains. (This is called “décalage” in the dev literature.)

I think that (as perhaps you suggest) much of the power of explaining the later levels is to point out that you can extend your ability to be systematic, or meta-systematic, from one domain to other domains.
