PCR is the same as waffles, there are tolerances that don't ruin the result (but make it subject to debate!) Waffles are the same as PCR, if you forget to add dough, you've objectively failed.

Well, ultimately yes. It’s a difference of degree and therefore there are cases that are ambiguous. Still a difference worth making use of, while bearing in mind that it breaks down sometimes.

I went through parts of that literally a hundred times, and I was still discovering new things. I only wrote up a tiny fraction of them. It’s an amazing practice.

We are beginning to do the same thing in math education, albeit VERRRRY slowly: break down what we do in ever finer detail & explain little hidden steps that we math talents don't even think about.
