What are your favourite tips for reading difficult texts? Specific context: I have a whole bunch of phenomenology texts on my shelves that I want to read but are so much work that they basically act as a denial of service on my reading queue when I try. I'd like to fix that.

Yeah, I know. I initially started with Merleau-Ponty and hoo boy that was a mistake. I'm currently reading "Experiences of Depression" which is hard work but fine, have read "illness" before which was good, and would like to tackle Dermot's "Introduction to Phenomeonlogy" soonish

TBH I'm a mathematician at heart still so the idea of reading primary sources at all is still weird to me.
