Sorry I'm out of the loop here; which article was this? I might be able to say something, I don't know... btw I STILL haven't had a chance to listen to your podcast with @ssica3003, but @_awbery_ spoke very highly of it, and I look forward to it!

Well we could do a compare on the article I mentioned (linked here) but my thought was that meta-rationality would likely fall under the metamodern label that

I don't know a lot about meta-rationality. I'm interested in how it may be a phenomenon of metamodernism. I realize it's probably hard to capture in a tweet, but could you give the nutshell of how you see the connection?

I take metamodernism to be the cultural aspect of meta-systematicity, and meta-rationality to be the cognitive aspect. This usage may not be standard, but we are inventing this stuff as we go along! https://meaningness.com/eggplant/terms pic.twitter.com/8SP9eFlXiG

I guess I would say, invent away! But can someone explain one thing: Why call these things "metamodern" when y'all already have perfectly good terms for the things you're describing--terms that are not already in use and doing work in critical/cultural theory capacities?

What I mean is, "Metamodernism" --as a parallel thing to pomo and modernism-- makes sense. What's the reason the term should be made to also stand for an integralism reboot (or systems theory, or theories of adult development...)

Having been more familiar with the metarational/metasystematic terms than metamodern, I have to admit I don’t quite understand why people consider metamodernism to be the same thing, but I haven’t read Hanzi or any of the art critics using the term, only twitter peeps.

My understanding of what I think the systems-y people would -like- metamodernism to be is a way of approaching the world that acknowledges meaningfulness without deifying or trapping it, analogous to Kegan stage 5. I’m actually unsure metamodern artists -are- doing that...?

There does seem to be some kind of pattern to how all these people in these different fields are relating to structures of meaning, and it makes sense to see whether they could be grouped together, under if not the same name then similar ones?

To me the problem lies in the 'category' of thing we are each taking MM to be. If it is a wide container on parallel to pomo and mod (AKA an episteme), it can't ALSO be one person's/one group's desired social program. It's way larger than any 1 controlling idea could contain.

I am guessing this is in reference to Hanzi’s “Nordic Ideology”? I confess to having not read the book, but I did find it questionable to identify metamodernity with a specific political/social theory
