This can be quite terrifying and challenging, but becomes tractable when combined with the bio-emotive framework and meditation.
My experience was something like:
1. Pay attention to the somatic response, trying to perceive when emotional 'trigger' begins to emerge

2. Continue to participate in the circle, which tends to amplify the trigger further, while adding more dimensionality to the underlying pattern 3. Leave the circle and use the bioemotive framework to process and release the underlying emotional wound (aka lots of crying) /4

4. Come back in the circle with a greater sense of freedom and connection 5. Repeat This seems to be a fast track for cleaning up.

This sounds like you guys are building a tantra? Any environment where people are interacting with each-other with meditative intent will basically turn into tantra. Surprising direction of development.

I'm curious to know
@Meaningness's take on how this (Vinay's remark, in the context of Daniel's whole thread) connects with eg the Aro Buddhism > "Self-liberation means allowing emotional energy to be as it is." http://arobuddhism.org/community/an-uncommon-perspective.html …2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -
Not sure what you are asking?, but: - Circling has always sounded creepy to me (but I know almost nothing about it) - What Vinay says seems right, if hedged for the vagueness of “meditative” and “tantra” - Self-liberation is the principle of Dzogchen, not tantra

Circling seems to be like meditation. Can be creepy and awkward, can be useful and liberating. It's widespread enough now that there are rather different 'takes' on what circling is. Good intro to og circling is this podcast:https://www.iheart.com/podcast/256-intellectual-explorers-pod-31095283/episode/guy-sengstock-what-is-circling-43485614/ …

I'm curious about what is creepy about circling. Circling (to my understanding) is sitting in circle with others and speaking from a place of presence and intention while also using a lot of silence. I've done some of my best thinking and sense-making in circle with others.

Creepy is defined as "Of or producing a sensation of uneasiness or fear, as of things crawling on one's skin". It's true that sitting in this level of vulnerability / presence / weirdness could cause those sensations.

@Meaningness is used to some *extremely high end weapons grade weirdness* and probably is thinking of what circling would be like if his crew did it ;-) Demonic possessions, exorcisms, channeled deities, more exorcisms, people levitating, more exorcisms, you know how it goes :-P1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes
Actually, the Aro sangha are fairly mild-mannered as tantrikas go. My circling concerns are more generic (but ignorant). Also, for the sake of the record, I’m no longer affiliated with the lineage. (Due to shifting personal priorities rather than changing my mind about it.)

Ah, interesting. I've thought about making contact and going out to Wales for a curry several times, but it always seemed to be a thing to start another day, not-quite-time-yet. Not much in Buddhism strikes me as alive, but those cats have always seemed to be ON FIRE.

Yes, it seems to me one of the livest available vajrayana systems. It emphasizes Dzogchen rather than mahayoga, though, so dramatic extremes are less a part of the experience. (Not that they are entirely absent, however!)
