Finished my second circling retreat at the Monastic Academy last week. I continue to be impressed with we-space practices, especially we-space retreats of which this is my third. /1

Rather than importing dubious non-Buddhist practices as substitutes for Buddhist tantra, it would be much better to bite the bullet and do the real thing, thereby getting the benefit of 1300 years of smart people figuring it out plus vast trial-and-error practice.

I agree 100%. Did you ever read Eternalicious? It's kinda designed to be hard for exploit. And, to be fair, as far as I can tell Lineage Tantra often explodes and kills people to, no? Maybe that's just us.

You have an excellent point there! No guarantees anywhere, and plenty of landmines. I still think, on the whole, that starting from a system that’s known to function reasonably well (albeit in a totally different cultural context) is better than winging it.
