Finished my second circling retreat at the Monastic Academy last week. I continue to be impressed with we-space practices, especially we-space retreats of which this is my third. /1

Interesting bit about self liberation, dzog chen, and tantra. I've always seen dzog chen and Hindu tantra as pretty much identical. The practitioners seem near identical in person, but I wonder (given your statement) if that's right. My understanding is limited.

I know almost nothing about Hindu tantra, so can’t help with that!

Circling seems to be like meditation. Can be creepy and awkward, can be useful and liberating. It's widespread enough now that there are rather different 'takes' on what circling is. Good intro to og circling is this podcast:https://www.iheart.com/podcast/256-intellectual-explorers-pod-31095283/episode/guy-sengstock-what-is-circling-43485614/ …

Yeah, been there, done that. All good fun if you are into that sort of thing. The problem was springing this on people who weren’t prepared for it.

Re your last point - my understanding was that Dzogchen/atiyoga *is* tantra, deriving in parts from Kashmir Saiva tantra

That has long been the opinion of Tibetans opposed to Dzogchen. The early history of Dzogchen is obscure, and it’s possible there’s some influence from Shaivism (and Zen, and other things). They aren’t the same now. https://approachingaro.org/dzogchen-controversy …pic.twitter.com/0JhnVxsi0G
