The dual-process fantasy was that "we" (the rationality modules) could finally win the forever-war against the evil irrationality modules by enumerating their weapons ("cognitive biases") and defeating them with superior technology.

We can and must think better; and understanding how we do think now can help. That understanding has to come from detailed naturalistic observations, not self-control fantasies of idealized rationality in a Platonic paradise.

Yeah the explanation in the Guru Papers (book I cited) is that it’s not nearly as good as it pretends, and may be bad on balance (although mixed). And, yes I think one could, although that may require an adult+ stage of moral development. Whether society-wide... I don’t know. 1/2

It's so beautiful that rationality, which is excellent at lumping things into categories, divines (heh) that all thinking is either rational or irrational. It's logical, therefore it must be true. Help I'm stuck in a logic factory!
