This is what I recommend as a starting point for most people: https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/apr/07/the-sugar-conspiracy-robert-lustig-john-yudkin … Don't think it is what you're looking for, though. I think you're looking for glimmers of hope. I have some! Just deciding which one is best...

Yes, I loathe video, although it’s sometimes tolerable if run at 2x :) You can assume I’ve read all the standard positions and arguments and know the basic biochemistry and the better-publicized recent results. I’m not sure what you mean by pathology; that might be good start?

I have not forgotten about this, but I haven't been able to find a good summary of my idea — “Evidence from pathology clearly shows that reliable and useful knowledge about human nutrition is easy to come by.” ...

... and so this “argument from pathology” that I'd like to put forward someday when I have time starts with “What explanations are consistent with this intervention being the best treatment for epilepsy *and* the best treatment for diabetes?".

And re the meta-science topic from way up-thread... Is it really right to say 'oh nobody knows anything, it's all about individual responses, moderation in all things' etc when this simple intervention is the best known treatment for two major diseases?

Or is the real meta-science explanation that the dietary authorities from 1970 to 2010 put all Americans on a radical experiment without scientific rationale, which has caused massive harm, and now they're covering their tracks with that spiel?

Oh, THAT part I am confident you are correct about! :)
