He also invented/discovered Cherenkov radiation, the Lorentz-FitzGerald contraction, the Lorentz force, the Dirac delta function, the Bromwich integral, and the Poynting vector. Along with, you know, vector calculus and most of classical EM. Plus, painted his fingernails pink.

I think I have seen his name popping up when I have been working with electromagnetic field theory. I just don't remember where exactly.

He actually worked out Maxwell's Equations! Along with a slew of other things that got named after other people because he was an electrician, not a professor.
