What I do regret in terms of business understanding is having never worked as a middle manager in a well-run mid/large company. All my prior management experience was in badly-run startups. I learned a lit about what not to do, but had almost no positive role models.

Don’t get an MBA if you are David Chapman (or an otherwise exceptional individual)... If you are average (and want that sort of job), it may make you slightly less average, as far as employment goes.
