Which is why the gradual change in incentives for scientists has been so bad. The system actively penalizes caring about the phenomenon, and rewards caring about bureaucratic advancement. It’s a stirring testament to unquenchable human curiosity that any science still gets done!

90% of the population doesn't comprehend the benefits of rationality. Keep that in mind when you attack it. Sometimes simple rules are better than no rules at all. I assume your target audience is less than 5% of the population. But at least consider the other 95.
From now on, my preferred way of expressing that insight shall be "There is no methodological substitute for actually giving a shit".
