Strong agree. This reminds me that the worst sort of pedantry is the kind that reads, e.g., Pinker's "Enlightenment Now" and thinks that the killer criticism is that he doesn't quite get the exegesis of Locke right.

After you read enough academic book reviews, you notice that every damn one feels compelled to include the section “here are the errors, notice how smart I am to have found them”... Much more common in academic than popular reviews.
