I think it's significant that it's not the government wanting to punish here, but the corporation and whoever they're trying to please. That may affect what measures censors are able to employ. In some ways it makes them more powerful b/c not answerable to the limits on govt.

Huge political pressure on USG now to regulate FB & Twitter. Fwiw looks to me like highly probable. FB apparently wants this specifically in order to close smaller competitors and force everything onto FB who cam bear the moderation cost.
