Loui is right that BCS got mired in vintage-1980 philosophy of mental representation, and instead of just rejecting the whole framing, BCS tries to fix it, and fails, and that muddies up the rest of his story.

OTOH Loui underplays the insight that computation is about meaning and we don’t have any theory of that. Also that BCS has gone further than anyone else in working out the consequences of objects arising in interaction and not being objectively separable.
