(This thread is in real time by the way. Books do not get granted a lot of time to grab my attention, and I've got a backlog of books that I already suspected I wanted off my shelves)

"The Rules Do Not Apply" - Ariel Levy. Not abandoned (yet), but parked for later as it seems likely to depress me and I don't want that right now. Seems good but I suspect it will get abandoned later when I decide that it will have too high a depressing : valuable ratio.

Skyfaring - Mark Vanhouenacker. Been on my shelves for years. Perfectly good collection of essays about being a pilot. I'm pretty sure I've read most of this book, but I have no idea how much, and I didn't really feel like I'd gain from reading more.

Flight Patterns - Collection edited by Dorothy Spears. Honestly, didn't even open it. Similar story but it's really long and we just established I don't care that much about flying that much.

Give people money - Annie Lowrey. Seems like a good book, but as I already agree with the conclusion I feel like the main things I would learn out of it are how to do better advocacy for it, which I'm not well-positioned to do.

Passed through to next-stage triage: Undercover Economist by Tim Harford. Brief read I liked his description of fair trade economics and its optics as PR. I generally like his writing so I was already positively inclined towards the book.

Passed: The Entrepeneurial State - Mariana Mazzucato. Skimmed the conclusion. Looks interesting and like it will give me some interesting views on subjects I haven't thought much about. Writing is quite stiff, so I don't give great odds of finishing it, but hopefully will.

The Long Haul - Alex Hibbert. I picked this up for £1 on a whim a few weeks back. It's not really my thing. Didn't give it a fair enough hearing to form an opinion on whether it's good or bad, I just know I'm not going to finish it.

(my hit rate on books isn't usually nearly this bad. I'm currently triaging stuff that I think I'm especially unlikely to want to read so that they stop taking up bookshelf space and crowding out ones I do want to read)

Thinks... - David Lodge. It turns out that I don't know who David Lodge is or care what he thinks. Fortunately this book was free.

He wrote some amusing novels about academic life in the 1980s.

Replying to @Meaningness
I think this one is meant to be an amusing novel about academic life in the 1990s and I'm sure it's fine but *shrug*.
