I'm sympathetic to some of the arguments, and of course we can (and in many cases probably should) test radical ideas for organisational things, but I'm afraid I'm a fairly strong believer in the "diminishing returns are inevitable" thesis, at least in "basic" science. (1/2)

The “low-hanging fruit” argument certainly seems to apply to fundamental physics. But there’s new fields always opening up. So does it apply to science overall? I don’t know, and don’t know how we could know, but it doesn’t seem to matter for “how can we do better?”

The biggest challage I see for myself as young researcher: finding an institution that would not get in the way of my research with a community that would be conductive to my research. (Also finding the right problems to work on, but that's a meta-problem that is always there).
