Don't usually remember this, but figure out how you are going to clamp the parts before you mix the epoxy. Clamp in vise, and the piece of pipe pushes down on impeller, plastic film should prevent it from sticking to part.pic.twitter.com/1MiyKajl8u

How does the drain pump work?pic.twitter.com/sIicHAtg1I
I put the pump back in the dishwasher and tried to fill it. Oops, I forgot to reattach the drain hose, so all the water poured out on the floor.pic.twitter.com/Ojw5xKUzu7
So, I put the dishwasher back together, and of course it still didn't drain, tho it did make various novel noises. Pulled it back apart and verified that the pump vibrated but wouldn't start.pic.twitter.com/ne7viNsghG
The rotor assembly needs to resonate at 60hz to start, so I thought that my metal impeller may have added too much inertia. I removed two of the vanes and it would start in air, but not in water.pic.twitter.com/ZGlDlOtc2w
The water effect suggested there was too much drag from the impeller, so it was basically stalled. I gradually reduced the height of the tabs and the vane length.pic.twitter.com/DFXVZ9CS0v
Here's my final test.pic.twitter.com/dP54vom76c
I did successfully run a load of dishes today, and it is draining with great enthusiasm. Not rationally a good tradeoff vs the $120 for a replacement pump, but the project boosted my mood a lot. I even went and made the PowerPoint slides I should have worked on yesterday.
I’ve spent probably two full-time days fixing mine; buying a new one would have been more sensible (as my SO pointed out several times). It’s the principle of the thing!
