What recurring conversation patterns annoy or bother you that you wish you had a socially acceptable way of fixing?

Not sure it’s a ratio so much as an attitude that creates conversational flow? Riffing off ideas requires openness and attention, that naturally leads to querying. Implicit questions work insofar as they are understood - great when there’s an established shared ground.

Yeah I think the conversations I have in mind are mostly only possible with people who I know fairly well. I can only really think of one person who I've had this sort of conversation with almost immediately.

I'm not sure. I'm a fan of making important things explicit. I don't know if this applies to questions or not - I haven't really thought about it - but e.g. it's helpful to make decisions explicit, and I often find it useful to make subtext into text.

I guess this isn't incompatible. It might be that of the questions that naturally arise, the better ones tend to arise implicitly, even if they then benefit from being made explicit.
