A few, yes. But those who were in their early 20s in the 1959 are in their 80s now, so… OTOH, yesterday

Actually part of why he was such a great teacher is probably that he didn’t get a full Tibetan education. He started living in Italy, in isolation from Tibetan culture, in his early 20s. He reconstructed key advanced teachings by reading old books—a very un-Tibetan thing to do.

Yes, he made a point of understanding Dzogchen academically and conceptually as well as experientially. That’s almost unique. It made his explanations fuller and more clear than many.
