A major muddler was Edward Conze, whose history @Jayarava reveals here. Important for anyone who thinks they understand Prajñaparamita—or should.

i think what you said, are strange. Could be true in general, but i think buddhists in china, would never read them. Specifically, Prajñaparamita, and tibetan buddhism. The latter, particularly have some popularity in US. I think the popularity is due to political plays.
