Not exactly. Anyone who adds to the scientific body of knowledge, through the development of new theory or testing of existing theory IS a scientist, but in many ways, a lot of scientists ignore the philosophy of science and act like over glorified lab techs, trying to "prove"
their theories, rather than trying to falsify them. Some don't even realize that science is incapable of increasing the statistical confidence of our own assumptions. It can only decrease them, or maybe increase the maximum confidence: science is statistical prf by contradiction.
