2: And departing, this one brought before me the one called Onoskelou, beauteous in form with the body of a fine-skinned woman, but the shins[=κνημας; McCown's text has the nonsensical κτημας=properties, but the intended word is indicated in a footnote] of a mule.

3: And she having come, I spoke to her saying: "Who are you?" And she said to me: "I am called Onoskelou, an embodied[=σεσωματοποιημενον, lit. 'made into a body'] spirit. And I lurk upon the earth; I dwell in a cave where gold lies.

4: And I have a many-faceted character: whereas sometimes I choke people like a noose, other times I pervert them from their innermost[?=επιεγκονων] nature.

5: Many are my dwellings; and also I frequently associate with the people to whom I am like a woman, and foremost the honey-complexioned, for they are also of my constellation; for they also make obeisance to my star both clandestinely and conspicuously."

[OK, in this passage the lines between confused transcription, homonymy, and bawdy humor become hopelessly blurred] 6: And I, Solomon, asked her: “whence were you born?” and she said: “απο φωνης Βηρσαβεε ιππικης κρηματικης.”

[Now, as far as I can discern, there are equally valid grounds for reading this as either “from the sound of Bathsheba whinnying {reading κρηματικης as conjugating κρεμετιζειν} like a horse {ιππικης = ιππος + -ικης}”...

...or “from the sound of Bathsheba bribed {κρηματικης conjugating χρηματιζομαι} by a knight {ιππικο + ης}”. Neither seems entirely grammatically consistent, but I think we can all agree that it's a pretty wild story either way.]

7: And I shut her away beneath four great stones. And she cried out: "let me out, let me out, and I will bring to you a table with a bowl and chalice, whosoever grasping will be lashed with whips all over, offering to surrender the edibles[?=βρωτα] and drinks to you."

8: And commanding that she be fetched, that she bring to me a stone table of jasper; its length four cubits and width four cubits, and having in the corners[?=κεραστιν] four ant-lions speaking when prompted by me as much as I wish.
