I realized only while writing about this how much I still care about AI. I haven’t actively participated in 25 years, but the questions are still compelling. Despite my moderate skepticism about deep learning, it does offer new tools to address the traditional issues.

I like this article especially the part about how design addresses issues of nebulosity while engineering addresses efficiency and scale. Reminds me of my own work in building user friendly data systems for humans to use and end up negotiating politics as well in client firms
