In "dream memory" one content is connected to other dream memories more closely than to other waking memories.
When we go back to sleep, the dream memory is more accessible than it was during waking. No one has figured out what dreams are doing- working on problems.

Dreams are always creative, never drawing directly from waking memory- except for the general ideas, which obviously do relate- somehow!
Hence we hypothesize the "dream memory," separate from the waking memory. The difference is not caused by sublimation.

This is psychology- not rocket science.
Antidepressants could be causing the whole epidemic- it is what we are doing different from all other armed nations and times.
Americans = guns + psychiatric drugs = epidemic of mass shootings.
Ukrainians + guns, ZERO mass shootings.
Refute this hypothesis. They cannot.
