With respect, no. Title IX is broken. Our criminal justice system even more so. They have different outcomes, standards of evidence, and obstacles. Using one does not preclude using the other. Survivors should choose what will serve them best--both, one, or neither.

While I encourage survivors to come forward and seek consequences for those responsible, experiencing harassment does not *obligate* one to take any further steps, especially ones with risks and costs; you've already been imposed upon. If you do speak up, we are in your debt.

When Title IV is used primarily to protect the institution from liability, it fails women and the best-promises for the future, miserably. When leadership is accountable to both the underlying intent in addition to surface legal compliance, there is some hope for equality.
