    Today I attended the Commission expert group on asset freezes & reporting, with officials implementing sanctions from🇪🇺🇨🇭🇱🇮🇳🇴🇬🇧🇺🇸 Good to see commitment at all levels & across countries. Effective implementation of sanctions on Russia for its war against Ukraine is our priority.

    🇪🇺🇺🇦 Ukrainian refugees have the right to access basic bank accounts in the EU. Good to see guidance for banks from on how they can provide this access and clarifying obligations around rules on money laundering 👇

    Sorry to hear of the death of former EU Commissioner Michael O’Kennedy. My condolences to his family. Have fond memories of meeting him as a young journalist on my first visit to Strasbourg in the early 80s. 📸 College of Commissioners in 1982, which hangs in the Berlaymont.

    I had a good dialogue with 🇵🇱 State Secretary Magdalena Rzeczkowska at yesterday's , on how Poland is supporting Ukrainian refugees, and how the EU and Member States can support the financial inclusion of refugees. EU sanctions against Russia were also on the agenda.

    New sanctions against Russia just announced, including: ▪️Import ban on coal ▪️Transaction ban on 4 Russian banks ▪️Ban on Russian vessels and road transport operators in the EU ▪️Additional export and import bans

    Today: Luxembourg for . 🇺🇦 We were joined by video by Ukrainian finance minister Serhiy Marchenko who told us how the war is hitting the economy & the people of Ukraine. On the 44th day of war he spoke about Russian atrocities & the need for more sanctions.

    A great exchange at the panel on Open Finance. Data has never been more important, and the Commission is planning an open finance framework. That could enable new products personalised to individual consumers – while keeping them in control of their data.
