The worst part is that the constant horror stories make sexism a self-fulfilling prophecy. - Women being scared away from getting involved into gaming makes it more male - Women in gaming who get too cautious due to horror stories will have trouble connecting with the community

As I have been saying for years now: Game journalists? YOU ARE MAKING GAMING WORSE FOR WOMEN, NOT BETTER. YOU ARE MAKING WOMEN AFRAID TO DEAL WITH OTHER GAMERS. YOU ARE MAKING GAMING TOXIC FOR EVERYONE. YOUR BUSINESS MODEL IS UNETHICAL AND CANNOT BE SUSTAINED IN THE MODERN ERA.

And why would women want to get into esports anyway? According to game journalists all women who game can expect to get is harassment, rape threats, and ridicule, because focusing on the small number of dickheads who do those things brings clicks for their shit business model.

"Toxic gamers!" They knew something wasn't right, they were proven correct "Harassment of women!" There was no woman. Gamers said she wasn't who she said she was and, to reiterate, THEY WERE RIGHT. "Starting a conversation about muh women in gaming!" *smashes head in with a rock*

Let me get this straight > Overwatch player claiming to be 17 year old girl quickly climbs minor league rankings > Gamers smell a rat and claim she isn't who she says she is > Journos run usual "Woman Harassed In Gaming" stories > It was a guy all along > "Muh Social Experiment"

The gamer girl who got bullied by gamers claiming she was a fake turned out to be a "social experiment". All of the Kotakus fell for it.

Treat the women in the community with respect. Absolutely. But don’t always assume that our minority status is a direct result of some big bad patriarchal boogeyman.

45% of gamers are female, however this statistic also includes stay at home moms playing candy crush. Only 8% of the smash community is female, and of that % only a small portion even has an interest in competing, and THATS O K! Being a minority doesn’t have to be bad!

Hello, I'm a woman in a movie. Any movie, any genre. My skin is flawless, my hair is always perfect, and in the original casting breakdown I am described as "slender" before any other adjective is used.

This doesn’t happen to Clinton or Obama aides. They are referred to in a apolitical terms in media (“analyst” etc). But my entire professional life, I have been accusingly labeled as Bernie Guy — with all the red scare McCarthyist insinuations. It shows the bias against Bernie.

I want to be clear here: I’ve done a lot of jobs for Dems and for media outlets, but literally to this day, the only one that I get accusingly interrogated about is having worked for Bernie 20 years ago as a kid. The bias and hatred against him is very deep and very real.

I worked for Bernie right out of college. For 20 yrs, this — and only this — has made getting any job in politics/media far more difficult. I’m not complaining, but I speak from experience when I say that the hatred of him & his ideology by the political/media class is very real.
