Actually, it's because they were bought out by Aetna, who is giving the raises. But good spin.

The principal is still the same though. Lower taxes have led to higher wages
-
No, the principle is not the same. A buyout has nothing to do with tax reform.

Didn't the Democratic party went to raise taxes to pay for min wage increases? Didn't Democrats choose ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS OVER CITIZENS and want to use taxes to pay for Them? What a joke = DEMOCRATS=

Ya know, you could just raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour & everyone would benefit from your

Pretty good scam you guys got going, but a scam nonetheless. That wage increase costs Humana pennies, but they make billions more thanks to you - which we the taxpayers not to mention our children and grandchildren will end up paying for. Thanks for nothing GOP.

Big business makes more more, increases wages of employees, they both benefit. You don’t want big business to succeed at all, even if it means not giving money to the little guys. Shameful

So, why are all these companies laying off large amounts of employees before raising rates? Its almost as if the are using the savings from firing ppl to pay for raises then saying the reason is tax cuts...or is it the ow unemployment rate causing competition?
-
Weird that the jobs numbers have still been increasing a good pace, but somehow you spin it to say there are tons of layoffs occurring!!!

Uhhh, do you think the new wage has anything to do with their announcement in November that they are laying off 1,300 workers and having another 1,150 people accept buyout offers that will trim payroll costs by hundreds of millions of dollars?
#nocredit#itallevensout -
Doubt it. Could be because many workers are losing their jobs because they are being replaced by technology
-
Hi Sharon! Glad to hear we agree that Humana's announcement has nothing to do with the tax plan, despite the way the Repubs want to take credit for it. "Hey, McDonald's brought back the McRib! The tax plan is working!!" Have a great day.

A bit short on details. How many employees are getting this raise? The first word of the article is "Some." Is "some" more or less than the 1300 who are being cut?

You neglect the possibility that less than $15 is NOT what most full and part-time employees already make. I don't know. I just want
@SenTedCruz to supply details to support his contention. - 1 more reply
