No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.

This goes beyond police on the streets. How about youth services? Reducing child poverty? Providing education and training? You can just lock kids up. Early intervention has been proved to be more effective and cheaper

So stop and search powers being increased after *you* decreased them in the first place? Big U-turn on your policy there, and not a hint of an apology?

Don’t understand why he should apologise? It is not a U-turn but a necessary action this time. Not a fan of Sadiq’s politicking but we need him and Law enforcement to get on with their job.

Allow police full powers to stop and search. Do it for all areas. Support them fully when they do exercise these powers. Get Tough means get tough. Where did you find the extra police numbers from? New recruits? Appointed specials to regular police??

Only in urban regions do you think of knives as offensive weapons. In rural areas knives are simply tools for cutting objects, NOT people. I don't need any 'excuse' to be carrying one and I use every day. 🛠🔪

I grew up in Texas where, at my high school 40 years ago, guys parked their trucks with rifles and shotguns in the rear window racks. These were for hunting and target shooting. Nobody shot anybody at school.
It's a morality problem, not a weapons problem.

Ive carried a knife on me every day for over 20 years. I use it to cut food, open boxes, splice wire, cut fabric, even tighten and loosen screws. Knives are a tool, theyre only a weapon when used in a threatening matter just like any other object. Knives are not the problem.
