This weekend we saw too many people packing beaches, trails and parks. So we are closing sports and recreation at and closing parking at city beaches. That doesn’t mean gather elsewhere. This is serious. Stay home and save lives.
It’s official: our City Council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to Obama Boulevard!
We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President when traveling across L.A.
Today I authorized the City to disconnect utility service at a house in the Hollywood Hills to stop the large parties held there in flagrant violation of our public health orders. Parties like these can quickly and easily spread the virus and put our communities at risk.
The responsibility for George Floyd’s death rests solely with the police officers involved. Chief Moore regrets the words he chose this evening and has clarified them.
A message for all Angelenos: Here in Los Angeles, we will not be coordinating with ICE.
Your city is on your side, we are in this together → Mayor.LA/z6b930p7ij5
Thank you for bringing home the #WorldSeries victory.

This evening, more than 40 people were sent by the Governor of Texas to our City of Los Angeles.
Shortly after I took office, I directed City Departments to begin planning for an event like this.
This did not catch us off guard.
We are now executing our plan. 1/3
I have lifted the curfew in the City of Los Angeles. We remain strongly committed to protecting the right of Angelenos to make their voices heard and ensuring the safety of our community.
Thank you, , for generously sending a taco truck to support our firefighters, first responders, and partner agencies working to fight the #GettyFire.

It’s almost 3 p.m. Time to turn off major appliances, set the thermostat to 78 degrees (or use a fan instead), turn off excess lights and unplug any appliances you’re not using.
We need every Californian to help conserve energy. Please do your part. #FlexAlert
I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but you need to cancel the party, barbecue or get together you planned for Labor Day weekend. Gatherings like that can spread COVID-19 and put lives at risk.
Please do your part to slow the spread.
L.A. is proud to be home to the largest Armenian diaspora. We stand with the people of Armenia. I urge our leaders in Washington to conduct the sustained and rigorous diplomacy necessary to bring peace to the Artsakh region. Turkey must disengage.
We’re going to have to celebrate differently this year. Everyone should cancel plans with others for the 4th of July. You shouldn’t gather with anyone who doesn’t live in your household.
Please stay home and save lives — it’s that simple.
COVID-19 is now the leading cause of death in our county. The threat posed by this virus is very real. The sacrifices we’re making to help flatten the curve are working, but there's still a long road ahead.
Now is not the time to let up.
Food is continually en route to our stores. There is no shortage of food and no interruption in supply. Remember, we're all in this together and shouldn't hoard more than we need.

I know many of you are feeling frustrated or wondering when we'll be able to lift the Safer at Home order. But lifting the restrictions too soon could risk lives. My promise to the people of L.A. is that evidence and medicine will continue to guide us through this crisis.
Ermias Asghedom was an artist, entrepreneur, activist and philanthropist.
He was an Angeleno.
He loved this city and gave of himself to uplift his neighborhood and his neighbors.
Our city mourns his loss, but his legacy endures.
Rest in peace, Nipsey Hussle.
Nope, definitely not aliens.
What you’re looking at is the first launch and landing of the Falcon 9 rocket on the West Coast. The rocket took off from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 7:21 p.m. and landed safely back on Earth. 🚀
What a proud day for L.A.! This boulevard that connects our city is now named for one of the greatest presidents that this nation has ever seen. #ObamaBlvd

Everyone wants to know when life will go back to normal. The truth is we're not moving past COVID-19, we’re learning to live with it and take gradual steps forward. Our Safer at Home order will remain beyond May 15, but will be adjusted to let more people get back to work safely.
A test is not a passport to party.
Just because you test negative for COVID-19 doesn't mean you should get together with people outside your household. We all need to continue to avoid gatherings. This virus is deadly and we must stop the spread.
Regardless of your immigration status, I want every Angeleno to know your city is on your side. Here in Los Angeles, our police department does not coordinate with ICE or participate in immigration enforcement.

I know we're all anxious to return to our routines –– to see the people we love and visit the places that make this city home. But please take this health pandemic seriously –– stay home and practice physical distancing. Every single choice you make could save a life or risk one.
I just declared a state of emergency on homelessness to unlock every tool and authority at our disposal to bring unhoused Angelenos inside.
This is a matter of life and death and that’s exactly how my administration will treat it.

I believe in our city. L.A. is strong enough to stand for justice and walk in love.
We respect every Angeleno's right to protest, but violence and vandalism hurts all.
Let's remember why we march, protect each other, and bring a peaceful end to a painful night.
Happy Fourth. Please stay home and avoid gatherings with others. And don’t forget your face covering.
That’s it. That's the tweet.
REMINDER: Hiking trails, beaches, and sports facilities are closed in L.A. We need all Angelenos to respect these orders, so we can slow the spread of COVID-19. Do your part. Your city is counting on you. Lives depend on us staying safer at home.
Beaches and trails remain closed this weekend. Please don’t spend your time outside. It's not worth it. We all want our city to reopen as soon as possible, but making the steady progress we are making is what will lead to recovery. For now, please keep it up.
Condragulations on adding your ⭐️ to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where it will remind everyone who sees it to love themselves and work!
I can’t be more clear about this: This weekend, more than ever, you need to stay home.
Beaches remain closed. Public trails remain closed. Sports and recreation facilities are closed.
Unnecessary trips put lives at risk. It's that simple.
George Floyd was killed before our eyes — and we have every reason to be angry, to cry out for justice, to say never again.
We have seen images of dangerously crowded farmers markets –– so I’m announcing the temporary suspension of farmers markets pending City review of physical distancing plans needed to keep communities safe. We will review plans immediately so markets can stay open this week.
