I think the Governor is spot on when it comes to New York State’s need for more affordable housing. This is an aggressive proposal and I’m looking forward to working with the Governor on this.

We will build the housing we need for our communities to thrive, for our economy to grow, and for our state to prosper. Housing is a human right. The New York Housing Compact is how we protect that right.

We need to remove the stigma associated with mental health and help each other — our neighbors — our communities. With the Governor’s help, I support more mental health resources in urban areas across New York State including our great City of Yonkers.

We are reversing our state’s approach to mental health care. With bold investments & policy changes, we’ll help meet the mental health needs of all New Yorkers. Learn more about my plan as part of the #StateOfTheStateNY at 1pm: governor.ny.gov nytimes.com/2023/01/10/nyr

I stand in full support of ’s nom of Justice LaSalle as Chief Justice. A highly respected & qualified jurist, he is committed to protect NY’s progressive values & equal access to justice. The Justice deserves a fair & full hearing based on the merits of his record.

10 years ago on this day, 26 Sandy Hook Elementary School students and teachers were killed on account of a 20-year old with a semi-automatic rifle. Let’s continue to focus on ending gun violence and keeping our students’ mental health in check.

Today, we paid tribute to Detective Sergeant Frank Gualdino, a 24-year veteran of the Yonkers Police Department. Thank you to all agencies, near and far, who came in support of their fellow officers in blue.

We promoted 10 of our finest fire officers in the City of Yonkers last week: 2 chiefs, 4 captains and 4 lieutenants. The Yonkers Fire Department is the best in the country, and I know each promotee will wear their new badge with great pride and integrity.

Yonkers is a close tight-knit community and when we lose one  member of our law enforcement community, we all feel a sense of grief. Frank is someone we all knew and loved.  He was a friend and a family man -- the best of all us and the best of Yonkers.

Today, we take pause from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. On this #VeteransDay, let us honor the men and women who have made sacrifices for our country and take time out to give thanks to those who are serving in the military.
