    Another day with some of the highest levels of cases in King County since the onset of the pandemic. In Seattle: Overall positive cases: 7,471 ⬆️ New cases: 97 ⬆️ 7 day average: 85.9 ⬆️

    COVID-19 cases in are on the rise. On Oct 29, we reached our peak number of cases in a single day – 387 cases. COVID fatigue is real but so is our resilience. Avoid crowded indoor settings, mask up and stay 6 feet apart.

    Seattle had a historic election with currently 87.89% of ballots processed. In this historic election, Washingtonians understand that it may take a few days to count all votes. Every vote matters & every vote will be counted across the country despite the President's threats.

    King County's historic voter turnout is still growing. According to a 6 p.m. update Wednesday, King County Elections had received and processed ballots from 85.7% of active registered voters, up from 84.8% at noon. Get the latest election 2020 updates:

    In the last week, Seattle has had two days with the highest levels of cases: Overall positive cases: 7,343 ⬆️ Yesterday's cases: 97 ⬆️ 7 day average: 79 ⬆️ We must do our best to stop the spread: limit gatherings, wear a mask & practice social distancing.

    As we navigate stress and uncertainty, watching our case counts rise each day is hard. Here’s another number that gives us hope: 550,000 people have stepped up to take care of our community and get tested for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

    In Washington state, many meaningful changes to policing must occur largely through changes to state law. In the upcoming state legislative session, I believe we have an obligation to fundamentally transform how cities approach bargaining, discipline, and accountability.

    Today, Councilmember and I proposed new, expanded roles for the City’s accountability partners in bargaining police contracts. This is the first time a community representative from the Community Police Commission has an official role in the bargaining process.

    Today, the US has officially withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement. The lack of federal leadership on this issues has been appalling. I’m proud that Seattle and other leading cities are still committed to addressing climate change.

    Seattle voters once again stepped up to support transit and transportation, especially to ensure reliable transit for essential workers during this pandemic. Our residents are the reason Seattle can claim one of the best transit networks in the nation.

    6 hours left to drop your ballots off. 82.69% of Seattle voters have returned their ballot. Text/Call/DM your friends, family and neighbors to drop their ballots off at the nearest drop box or Vote Center.

    Ballot drop boxes and Vote Centers close today, 8pm sharp. This means you must be IN LINE (not running to the line, not getting out of your car) by 8pm to be able to still cast your ballot. Don't gamble your vote. Get it done before 8p.m.
