Above all, I hope my blog can emphasize that the only real path to the white coat is the one we each make for ourselves. If you know any pre-med students who would be interested in being interviewed (can be anonymously), they can submit here: (7/7)

It’s 2020 and students are rotating with me now. I feel the awesome responsibility of trying to impart something meaningful. I try to draw upon the wisdom of the many incredible teachers I’ve had along the way. The students will learn the science. It’s the art that’s elusive.

Took me a year to adjust to uni academics and, as a RA for freshmen, I know this is common. We need to stop viewing intro classes as “weed outs” & instead help w/ transition to pre-med classes. Glad research like this shows the importance of improvement vs perfect performance

It’s the season for grad school interviews. I’ve been doing these a couple years now (for a few different programs), and in the interest of dismantling the hidden curriculum, here’s how I’d interview you and what I’d look for: 1/

Here's a list of 20+ paid summer research programs for undocumented undergrad students in STEM. Most have application deadlines in mid/late January or early Feb 2020. Would love to add more programs to this list.

So, I guess things aren’t so uncertain after all— even without completely clear 2020 vision.

Still, even though there’s a lot of uncertainty to what’s next, I’m super excited for all that’s in my control. No matter what, I know this decade will be one of meeting new people, personal growth, exciting academic adventures, and undoubtedly great memories.

This decade is going to bring so much change, and it’s kind of nerve-wracking. Right now, I’m all planned through graduation in May and then the rest of my calendar morphs into a big question mark.

Non-CS undergraduates are often concerned they're already too late in the coding game, and this data demonstrates that they're not. Many practicing professionals -- even data scientists -- didn't become comfortable with coding until after college.
