As a people, we’ve been through generations of attempts to silence our voices. As I’ve traveled across Central Florida to meet and speak with the folks, one thing is certain: No matter what xenophobic politicians may try to do to our communities, we will prevail.

I know in my heart that this attempt will only strengthen our resolve. We refuse to go back to the times when a person like me wouldn’t have had the right to vote, much less dream of running for Congress. Forward is the only way we’re going.
