YouTube doesn’t control what is trending on their site. It’s what people are watching. As much as I dislike Chris brown it would be unfair to him for YouTube to come in and remove his video from the trending list. I would say that about any content creator.

Actually, they DO control the trending page. They let it run mostly on its own but they will put things up there that are definitely not trending because they want to.

This isn't actually correct. Trending uses a bunch of signals to *automatically* show a list of videos that highlight what’s happening on YouTube and in the world (and is applicable a wide range of viewers).

YouTube, do you know why you’re lying? Why did the Pewdiepie rewind never trend even though it got millions of likes and tens of millions of views?
