The biggest killer of San Franciscans in 2020, by far, was drug overdoses. We will end 2020 w close to 700 overdoses, nearly 3x deaths of 2 years ago. Nearly 2 a day. There was mostly silence or business usual from city departments & Room 200. This was a brutal, shameful failure

Replying to @MattHaneySF
The blame lies with
@chesaboudin, who won't prosecute drug dealers, resulting in cheap fent and meth, which further feeds addiction.6 replies 2 retweets 75 likes -
Prohibition deters addicts from seeking the help they need and allows for dealers cutting drugs with contaminants and cheaper substances which directly leads to overdoses

SF basically allows both use and sale of any drug. Even with that decriminalization, our addicts still don't seek the help they need. Instead, they directly seek out meth and fent because those are cheap and powerful. The ODs are a result of people trying to max out their high.
