Why not do what Australia and other democracies did with public health if you want the pandemic over quickly? Vaccines and capitalism cannot do it faster, not even close.

Thanks. I didn't read the entire article because I have trouble understanding unexplained differences in states in the usa: those that strictly locked down vs those that didn't lock down. My conclusion: we still don't precisely know how this is spread.

Further, it seems likely covid deaths are over stated as are infections. Given these "constraints" to understanding exactly what we are dealing with it seems a cost benefit analysis is little more than an exercise.

We need to vaccinate the world, not just rich countries.

The answers to the two questions are not the same. Vaccines can only be part of the solution. They cannot end the pandemic on their own. They would have the biggest impact as part of an overall strategy to control and then eliminate the virus, including NPIs and FTTIS:

I completely agree that in the meantime we need those things. But once everyone is vaccinated, and we have the capacity to re-vaccinate in response to New variants, surely that would end the pandemic (as we know it) would be over? Is global elimination really feasible anyway?

Yes, it's just the wake-up call still needed by far too many. Otherwise, the pandemic forecast of the late psychic Sylvia Browne may come to pass, not ending until early 2030.

any thoughts on this far-outsider perspective that mRNA data already hints tiny doses+boosters are enough for 90%-plus efficacy - making existing mRNA production enough to vax 2B per month, via improved dosing?https://twitter.com/gojomo/status/1365375115110703105 …
