Since this is getting drowned out by other nonsense, I think it’s important to remember that is going to finish a closer third in Iowa than anyone expected, that she outperformed her poll average by more than 5%, and that she drew solid support across the state.

  9. Have you read "Calamity School" by yet? has featured a number of other stories that are also about characters who seek meaning through cults, mysticism, & religious epiphany. It's a theme I really dig, so I'm threading them.

  12. This presidency has filled me with hate—for Trump & his sycophants. Hate never used to be a part of my daily existence. And now I find myself choking on it. Which is a horrible feeling & really unhealthy. I’m scared it’s changing me as a person. And changing others in the US too.

Keep writing UGH in the margins of a story I'm trying to edit. It's the hardest piece I've ever written & is kind of a bastard.

I've seen Andrea's work based on interviews w/ immigrants; it's SO MOVING. Andrea brings light, joy, sadness, humor, & truth to all her plays. She has also been the director of the México/US Playwright Exchange for years. Very cool project:

Playwright Andrea Thome has a play premiering about immigration: Fandango for Butterflies (and Coyotes). Go see it! It's being performed in all 5 NYC boroughs. Andrea is my dear, dear friend & is SO TALENTED. This is the perfect antidote to American Dirt.

I didn’t watch the thing tonight but it still made me sad. Like teary-eyed sad. Just knowing it was happening was like a giant heartbreak. Every time he speaks, it hurts.

Sanitary pads were developed by a Black woman named Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner of Monroe, NC. The first company that showed interest rejected it because of racial discrimination. It was later accepted in 1956, 30 years later. Mary received five patents.
