Too bad the “bell icon” is algorithmically handled. Verified by 2 different YouTube reps I talked to. So no, not even pressing the bell icon is a guarantee anymore.https://twitter.com/teamyoutube/status/977335508434010112 …

Furthermore, you could prove this by showing “notifications sent” and “notifications delivered” Otherwise this variance in notification views could be that you’re not actually sending them. Not to mention the wild variance in the sub feed.pic.twitter.com/KfeUG189QO

It provides more options, though! Someone might want to see all vids in their subs feed, but not get notified about every upload from every single subscription (especially if they have A LOT). The bell gives channel-level options: receive none, occasional, or all notifications.

“Convoluted and confuse” is YouTube’s motto. Categorically fibbed about sun and notification feeds for years, talking to anyone’s audience en masse would demonstrate how none of it works 100% of the time, even if the bell is correctly pressed.

I hate seeing Matthias has to deal with this bs everyday but I hella enjoy this too. It's so funny these people working for and on YouTube don't know their own system.... Wait I mean "BROKEN SYSTEM"

I just keep getting logged out on the app, so I've given up on even staying logged in, and just go update myself on my fav channels daily.

I enjoy the default of algorithmically determined occasional notifications. For a couple of YouTubers I want all notifications and click the bell. For some I don't want any notifications, because I need to be in the right mindset to enjoy their content.
-
I do think that it'd be better if we got a notification when someone who hasn't posted in a while has uploaded something new, like how Tumblr does. Some people might post a lot so I don't have the bell on, then go away for a while, and I'll not think to turn it on.
